Here is a 1964 Vox AC-30/6 Super Twin, a rare and highly regarded variation of one of the most iconic amplifiers ever produced. Introduced during the golden era of British amplification, the Super Twin version expands on the classic AC-30 formula with a head-and-cabinet configuration, offering greater flexibility, improved sound dispersion, and reduced stage vibration compared to the traditional combo format.

This example is the AC-30/6 “Normal” model, confirmed by its serial number (8855N) and internal layout. Originally built without factory Top Boost or reverb, it has since been professionally fitted with a Hammond spring reverb unit, adding lush, vintage-style ambience that complements the amp’s naturally spacious and harmonically rich voice.

The amp has undergone a full professional restoration, ensuring reliable performance while preserving its vintage integrity. It retains much of its original circuitry, with select components replaced where necessary, and importantly still houses its original Albion OH083 output transformer, a correct and highly desirable feature for this period. It is now fitted with two new Vox speakers, delivering the full tonal range and classic response expected from an AC-30.

Tonally, it offers everything that defines the AC-30 legacy—sparkling cleans, rich and complex midrange, and a smooth, harmonically dense overdrive when pushed.
