Vintage Rex Bassking Combo Model BA200 - Aus 1969

Here is a 1969 Rex Bassking BA200 combo, a vintage Melbourne-made amplifier that represents an important era in Australian amp manufacturing. Built in 1969, this model is a well-preserved example of Rex’s craftsmanship and remains in original condition while continuing to function as intended, highlighting the durability of late-1960s Australian-built amplifiers.

The amp has been professionally serviced approximately 12 months ago by respected technician Warren Brown, who replaced aged capacitors and other key components to ensure reliable modern operation. Importantly, all original components removed during servicing have been retained and are stored inside the amplifier, preserving its historical integrity for collectors.

The BA200 delivers approximately 20 watts of output power, producing a warm, rounded vintage tone with a smooth and musical response. It is fitted with its original alnico Rola 12PEG speaker, which contributes significantly to its classic voicing, offering natural compression, soft highs, and an overall balanced tonal character that suits vintage-style clean and lightly driven tones.

Tonally, the Bassking sits firmly in the classic late-’60s sound profile, with an expressive midrange, gentle top-end roll-off, and a responsive dynamic feel that works well for practice, recording, or small performance environments.
