Gretsch
SOLD - Vintage Gretsch Double Anniversary 6117 – USA 1964

SOLD
Like other Gretsch Anniversary models, the sunburst-finished version of the classic Double Anniversary was introduced in 1958, originally with twin FilterTron pickups. In 1960 HiLoTron pickups replaced the FilterTrons and rosewood replaced ebony for the fretboard, and after that the 6117 continued relatively unchanged through the '60s. In the early 70s it became the 7560 Anniversary.
The Double Anniversary model was Gretsch’s "low cost" version of the famous thicker-body 6120 single-cutaway - same body-style, just different pickups.

The hollow maple body is 16" wide and 2.5" thick. Double-bound, hollow maple body with dual F-holes. The original Space Control bridge has been replaced with a newer rosewood bridge base and Gotoh GE103B adjustable bridge. The original bridge is in the case and included in the sale.
Gold plexi pickguard with Gretsch logo is in great shape.
Gretsch Hi-Lo Tron single coils with silver bezels. Master volume & individual pickup volume controls with "G" Arrow knobs. 3-way pickup & tone selector switches. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
This ’64 Double Anniversary has been well used but well looked after. It has a cool vintage vibe with a strong sunburst finish in nice condition for a 58-year old guitar. The lacquer on the back of the neck has been naturally worn off – from playing, not by sandpaper.
And there are some wear marks through the lacquer on the back, but no structural issues. The top is remarkably clean and overall this guitar presents in fine shape.
Significantly, there is NO binding rot which commonly afflicts Gretsch guitars of this age.
Guitar weighs 6.98 lbs and is light and balanced to play standing up or sitting down.
It's been nicely set up and plays well in all positions. And it’s very easy to dial in great tones just right for jazz, country, blues, rock and any style where a killer clean tone might be called for. It will drive pedals well, but thrives on that big, spacious, jangly tone that Gretsch does better than anyone.
Comes in its hard shell case in used but good condition.
