Vintage Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty - USA 1973

Like the Les Paul Standard, the Les Paul Custom was replaced with the SG body style at the end of 1960. The original Les Paul and Les Paul Custom were not brought back until 1968. Upon its reintroduction, the Les Paul Custom differed from those of the '50s in number of ways - the headstock angle was reduced from 17 degrees to 14 degrees and the neck tenon was shorter. Starting in late 1969, the Custom also adopted a multi-ply body construction with a Maple top like the Les Standard, where the original Les Paul Custom used an all-Mahogany body. Other changes include the introduction of a neck volute and a 'Made in USA' stamp on the back of the headstock. 

This Les Paul Custom has a solid mahogany "sandwich" body with 3-piece maple top with multi-bound top & back. The 3-piece mahogany neck small volute and cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Multi-bound headstock with mother of pearl split diamond inlays and Gibson logo.

This 1973 Les Paul Custom is a remarkable player’s guitar, exhibiting classic tone and a feel that only comes from years of play. The two original Gibson humbucker pickups deliver strong, rich outputs that are tonally complex and sound great at any volume.

The frets show minor player wear, with only slight wear under the strings near the nut, and are otherwise in excellent condition with little to no wear up the neck. The action is low, consistent, and responsive, with no dead spots, and the truss rod functions well.

This guitar is in player condition with clear evidence of wear, which adds to its character. While it shows some signs of use, it remains an outstanding example of its era, perfect for those who appreciate a vintage instrument with a story to tell.

Comes with a non-original hardshell case, which is in great condition.
