Vintage Gibson ES-335TDC Block - USA 1967
Pickup currently unavailable
A landmark in electric guitar design, the Gibson ES-335TDC (Thinline, Double Cutaway) has remained one of the most versatile and expressive instruments ever built since its debut in 1958. This 1967 example, featuring block inlays, a factory Bigsby, and rich finish checking, represents a golden-era semi-hollow with both historical clout and undeniable charisma.
Crafted during the height of Gibson’s Kalamazoo production years, this ES-335TDC features a semi-hollow maple body with a solid centre block, delivering the perfect marriage of hollowbody resonance and solidbody sustain. The cherry red nitro finish has gracefully aged with gorgeous lacquer checking and some light, superficial finish cracks that are purely cosmetic. The cream binding has naturally faded and remains fully intact. A few minor dings and signs of play are present, adding to the guitar’s road-worn elegance without detracting from its performance or structural integrity.
It retains its original witch hat knobs, and the tuners have been upgraded to high-quality gold-plated tulip-style replacements, offering improved tuning stability while maintaining a vintage-correct aesthetic.
Factory-fitted with a Bigsby vibrato, this guitar invites expressive phrasing and subtle shimmer. Tonally, it’s everything an ES-335 should be: warm and articulate in the neck, clear and punchy in the bridge, with a dynamic response that suits blues, jazz, and rock alike.
Playability is excellent, with low action measuring 0.5mm at the 1st fret and 1.25mm at the 12th, and a comfortable neck profile with depths of 20.32mm at the 1st fret and 24.79mm at the 12th. The nut width is 39.4mm, tapering to 50.42mm at the 12th fret, and it weighs a comfortable 3.6kg (7.94lb) — resonant and perfectly balanced.
A soulful, stage-ready vintage instrument with real character and tone — this 1967 ES-335TDC is a timeless Gibson classic.
