Before Fender’s legacy as the innovator of the electric solid body guitar, the company had established a solid reputation as making some of the best and most reliable amplifiers that a guitarist (or steel guitarist) could buy. Their reputation for high quality amps for the working musician is epitomized by the Fender Vibrolux – arguably the perfect amp for the working musician. With 35 watts of power, a guitarist could easily play loud and clean, with just enough headroom to allow some breakup without deafening the front row!
This amplifier is in excellent condition and has been well looked after and kept regularly serviced. Just enough ageing to let you know this is the real deal, with slight tarnish on the chrome and light signs of wear on the black tolex. The gold black grille cloth is untarnished. There is one indentation near the power light to the right of the front panel. The dials and black control panel are in excellent condition without any other significant dents or scratches.
This particular amp holds up the reputation of the Vibrolux as an excellent sounding and very usable 35-watt amplifier. The amp can be remarkably clean and chimey, without the ‘ice pick’ of some amps. The tremolo and reverb units perform well. Cranking up both controls make for a great surf tone with plenty of jangly springiness and pulsing tremolo. Driving the amp gives a nice level of saturation and drive from about 7 on the volume onwards. The two ten-inch Jensen speakers make for a compact and easily portable 21kg package. Anyone who’s owned a Vox AC-30 or Fender Twin might envy the weight and convenience of size this amp provides.
A classic, iconic and practical amp that you will love!
