Vintage Fender Stratocaster - USA 1974

Here is a 1974 Fender Stratocaster in Olympic White with a maple fingerboard, a beautifully built USA-era Fender that reflects the transition period of the mid-’70s Strat design. Featuring an alder body paired with a one-piece maple neck and fingerboard, this example carries the classic oversized CBS headstock and skunk stripe construction, delivering that unmistakable vintage Fender aesthetic and feel. Originally part of Sydney guitar tech Alan Rigg’s personal collection, this instrument has a genuine local history and has clearly been a well-used working guitar throughout its life.

This example has been modified for performance, most notably with an EMG active pickup system installed in place of the original electronics. It now features EMG-S ceramic single-coils in the neck and middle positions, and an EMG-SA stacked humbucker in the bridge, offering a powerful, quiet and highly versatile output. The upgrade also includes a 5-way selector switch for expanded tonal options, making it capable of covering everything from clean, glassy tones through to high-output modern sounds with ease.

The neck features the classic 3-bolt attachment with micro-tilt adjustment and a comfortable maple profile, with truss rod access at the heel. The skunk stripe and walnut plug construction remain intact, and the instrument has been recently serviced and set up, making it fully ready to play.

Condition is player-grade with honest wear consistent with its age and modifications, including non-original tuners and control layout changes from the EMG installation. Despite this, it remains structurally solid and highly functional, with strong vintage character and excellent playability. Comes with its original Stamford hard case.
