This is a great playing early '58 Stratocaster showing all the typical specifications of the period with 3 tone sunburst finish, single ply white pickguard, tremolo bridge, and typical Strat electronics, hardware and ornamentation.

The lower tone pot is stamped "304 723" (Stackpole June 1957).

The middle tone pot is a replacement, stamped "1379508" = Feb 1995

The volume pot is a replacement, stamped "1378702" = Jan 1987

This guitar is in well worn condition, with lots of finish checking, substantial belt-buckle wear through to the wood on the back of the guitar, and lots of marks on the top and sides. This is obviously a guitar that has been played --- a lot. But there’s usually a good reason for that – this is a damn fine guitar to play.

It sits in your hand like an old friend, and plays like it’s been telling musical stories for a long time. The pickups have some serious cut – lots of woody goodness from the neck pickup, some quackingly good bite from the bridge unit, and a very musical sounding middle pickup, which is often not the case even on otherwise good vintage Strats.

At some point the body has been routed under the pickguard, most likely for an extra switch. Obviously now not needed, and not in view under the guard. But it’s there.

We believe this Strat has been refretted at some point as the frets are more “medium” than vintage specs. Not much wear showing either. It’s a good pro job though, and makes this lovely old girl a pure joy to play.

The volume pot & one tone pot have been replaced, and there’s not much of the Fender decal still showing. So if you’re after a trophy piece, this one’s probably not for you.

But if you’re looking for a rare classic 58 Strat that’s ridiculously great to play, but with plenty of honest wear and tons of true vintage vibe, then you’ve gotta have a good look at this one.

Comes with its original tweed case in barely OK condition, along with a recent Fender hard shell case in excellent condition.
