Taylor LKSM Leo Kottke 12-String - USA 1995
Pickup currently unavailable
Introducing a gorgeous Taylor LKSM crafted in 1995. This instrument stands out as a prime example of one of the finest American 12-string guitars in recent history, showcasing exceptional sound and design. Crafted by Leo Kottke and Bob Taylor, it's engineered for a low tuning (down to C# instead of the standard E), with its substantial 17" body amplifying the deep tones that such tuning accentuates. While its specifically optimised for this lower tuning, adjusting to standard tuning is easily achievable by opting for lighter gauge strings.
Remarkably, this guitar has remained in its original condition over its 29 years, with minimal fret wear indicating it has seen limited use. This guitar is incredibly clean for its age with hardly a blemish to speak of, and the guitar's structural integrity is uncompromised, thanks to the protective bridge plate inside. The pickguard is coming away slightly at its point near the soundhole, but not enough to effect playability, and an easy fix. It comes with a Paper Signature Series Taylor label, personally signed by Leo Kottke.
Historically, the low tuning approach was a hallmark of 12-string guitars, dating back to their surge in popularity in the 1930s. For those unacquainted with the rich, expansive soundscapes offered by this tuning tradition, diving into this sonic adventure opens up a vast, resonant universe of sound.
Comes in its original Taylor HSC.
