We’ve listed many different models of Maton guitars here at PREMIER GUITARS, but here’s a relatively obscure one we have not seen before.
According to its interior label, this is a Maton Stage “Delux Rock Maple” built in Melbourne in November 1992. And yes the “Delux” does not have an “e” !
We understand this to be one of a very short run of this model, possibly less than 100 ever built. It appears to pre-date the introduction of Maton’s Stage Series EST65C guitars which were introduced in 1994. They were more of a thinline design, with later electronics.
This is a full size dreadnought with cutaway and Maton’s earlier piezo pickup system with volume and 3 way tone controls.
Whatever the case, this is a fine instrument.

This guitar was bought new by its one owner back in 1993, and it has been looked after with great care. Apart from some miniscule marks on two frets there is no sign of player wear anywhere on this one – amazing for an instrument nearing its 30th birthday.
There are no dings, dents, scratches or blemishes to be seen.
The only work carried out on this one was a regluing of one interior brace by respected NSW luthier Jim Mills. Jim also gave this an excellent setup and it plays beautifully in all positions.
With its primarily maple construction, the sound is articulate and bright but with a nice punchy midrange. This one is equally at home with finger picking, plectrum strumming or single note work.
It is a stunning looking guitar, in wonderful original condition.
Comes in its original Maton hard case in good condition.
