This is a fantastic package – a handwired 20 watt Marshall 2061X Lead & Bass 20 head paired with 2 matching Marshall 2061x speaker cabinets.
About The Head –
This Marshall 2061X head was built and hand wired in Marshall's Milton Keynes factory in England in 2017.
This compact , all-valve, handwired 20 watt guitar amp head is a reissue of the original 2061 which was made between around 1968 and 1973. It has been recreated to be as close to the original as possible.
From Marshall -
The two-channel 20 Watt Handwired 2061X is an authentic re-issue of the 2061 ‘Lead and Bass’ head from the late ’60s and early ’70s. And just like the original 2061, it produces that highly desirable, hand-soldered, vintage, all-valve sound in a compact small box design. The 2061X’s classic tone is produced by two ECC83 valves in the preamp, a pair of cathode biased EL84s in the power stage and a silicon diode rectifier. The solid-state rectifier gives the 2061X an aggressive edge, which makes it sound surprisingly contemporary.
Marshall have gone to enormous lengths to seek out and/or reproduce all of the original components and materials, plus revisit the original methods of construction they used back in the late 1960s/early 1970s. From the handwired tag-board circuit, to the custom-manufactured Dagnall output and mains transformers.
Features:
• Hand-wired reissue of the original 2061 "Lead and Bass" head
• 20W output
• 2 EL84 tubes in the power amp
• 2 ECC83s in the preamp
• Solid State rectifier
This amp sounds at its best when cranked, and because of its lower power, the 2061X’s EL84s will overdrive at a relatively low volume, making it incredibly flexible, whether in the studio or for live performance. Having said that, at full tilt the 2061X is pretty loud, while remaining sensitive to playing dynamics.
The Marshall 2061X’s sweetly distorted, harmonically rich, thick, musical tones result from the power valves being overdriven. As a result, when ‘cranked’ the 2061X is incredibly touch-sensitive, cleaning up or, if desired, sitting right on the edge of distortion when the guitar’s volume is turned down. It responds well to picking dynamics too.
The Marshall 2061X features two channels each with its own high and low input. Channel one is designated as the lead channel and has that classic Marshall tone. The second channel is referred to as the bass channel and is much darker sounding, being voiced for a tighter low-end.
For the warmest, fullest tone imaginable, jumper the two channels and push the gain for a luscious overdrive that no boost pedal could dream of. There are plenty of tonal variations to be had out of the 2061X.
This two-channel blues machine is an incredible studio amp that reacts just as well with single-coil Fenders as it does with fat humbucker Gibsons. 20 watts of power from twin EL84 tubes also make the 2061X great for small to medium-sized club gigs.

About the Speaker Cabinets –
Marshall 2061 CX 212 Speaker Cabinet – UK 2014
The Marshall 2061CX is a hand-soldered, 60-watt, 2 x 12" angled cabinet loaded with 30-watt Celestion speakers, manufactured in the UK.
Sporting salt and pepper grille cloth, metal handles, and two of Celestion's renowned G12 reissue speakers, the 2061CX sounds as good as it looks.
Features -
- 60-watt, 2 x 12" cabinet with angled front
- Designed to partner the handwired 2061X 20-watt head
- Loaded with 2 x 30-watt Celestion G12H reissue speakers
- Salt and pepper grille cloth
- Metal handles
- High-grade Baltic birch cabinet with finger-locked joints
- 8 ohms
The 2061CX has an authentic vintage look, and is unusual for a 2 x 12” speaker configuration in that, although smaller (650 x 665 x 305cm), it has the look of a 4 x 12” cab.
The angled cabinet is designed to complement the handwired, reissue 20-watt 2061X head both sonically and visually.
About The Lower Cabinet -
This is a labour of love – an empty “dummy” 2 x 12 cabinet which is a perfect recreation of a Marshall non-slanted 2061 cabinet, handmade by the owner using correct Marshall specs and materials, all imported from the UK, including the tolex, grill cloth, Marshall logo, handles and screws.
Its owner painstakingly built the cabinet from top quality birch ply and matched every aspect of its creation to its sister 2x12 slanted cabinet.
The baffle has not been cut, and there are no speakers installed. It was specifically built to create the look of a classic Marshall stack – albeit a slightly more compact one than the standard 2 x 412 cabs that filled stages in the 1970s and 80s.
This rig has got the look, and it’s sure got the sound.
The amp and both cabinets are in excellent, as new condition. This stack has only ever been used in a home studio situation and has been very well looked after. It has never been out the front door, let alone to a gig. Which is a shame, because it’s a great look, with rockin’ sound to match.
The amp has had no repairs, modifications or changes since new. The cabinets are in pristine, as new condition. No surprises, no issues, and 100% pure vintage Marshall tone – what more can you ask for ?
