$700.00 22146

Manuel Nunes is a formative figure in the history & development of the Ukulele. He arrived in Hawaii in 1879 along with two other instrument makers (Santos & Dias) from Portugal & opened his first shop advertising instruments in 1885.

Fast forward to 1909, he brought his sons into the business & proclaimed himself "Inventor of the Ukulele" on headstock decals & inner labels & had distribution widely around the mainland USA.

This example bears the Southern California Music Co. inner label, who distributed Nunes ukes until the Nunes & Sons company mysteriously closed its doors c.1917, & Manuel himself passed away in 1922.

Some subtle play wear & a small seam separation at the bottom of the uke, but crack-free, playing very well & in original case.
