    ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

The Contreras family has been crafting high-quality classical guitars for several generations. Manuel Contreras I, often referred to as Manuel Contreras Sr., was one of the earliest prominent members of this family.

Manuel Contreras I (1928–1994) was a highly respected luthier who gained international recognition for his skill in building classical guitars. His instruments are known for their excellent craftsmanship, tone quality, and playability. He was particularly influential in the development of the "Madrid School" of guitar making.

After Manuel Contreras I, his son, Manuel Contreras II (1958–2016), also became a prominent luthier, continuing the family tradition. He further refined and expanded upon his father's designs, often experimenting with different materials and techniques.

This beautiful guitar has only had 2 owners in its lifetime - the first owner, a player and aficionado, bought the guitar in Spain in 1973 and brought it out to Australia soon after. It was then sold to the current owner in Perth in 1990.

This Contreras has the traditional and true-to-era wooden peg tuners, cypress back and sides and a spruce top. The guitar presents in excellent condition for its age, with very little wear present on the body or frets. There is a mark on the top-treble side near the sound-hole, but only very small. The Contreras has the clear pickguard that has served the guitar well preventing any wear from aggressive strumming over its years. The guitar sports M.G. Contreras' signature on the label in the sound-hole, adding to this guitars appeal and provenance.

This guitar has exceptional sound qualities, from a flamenco perspective, and so delivers the true, traditional flamenco sound with rich bass along with soaring trebles and overall high volume.

This M.G. Contreras is a stunning guitar in all areas, aesthetic, playability and quality of sound - a superb vintage flamenco guitar that won't last long!

Comes in its original hard-shell case in good condition.
