SOLD - Lazy J J-20 with Extension Cabinet (New) & Reverb Module - UK 2021

Here is a 2021–2023 Lazy J J-20 package, representing one of the most highly regarded boutique interpretations of the classic late-’50s tweed amplifier design. Built by hand in the UK with meticulous point-to-point wiring and premium components, Lazy J amplifiers are widely considered among the finest modern recreations of vintage American tweed tone, favoured by players such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Joe Bonamassa, and many others.

At the heart of this system is the 18-watt J-20 head, delivering an exceptionally dynamic and touch-sensitive response. Featuring dual channels (Normal and Bright) with independent volume controls and a shared tone circuit, the amp allows for highly interactive gain shaping where volume adjustments directly influence tonal character and feel. From pristine, glassy cleans through to rich, harmonically complex overdrive, the J-20 responds with remarkable clarity and musicality.

The power section is configurable, utilising GZ34 rectification with 6L6 tubes as standard, while also allowing the use of 5Y3 rectifiers and 6V6 tubes without re-biasing, offering additional tonal flexibility and compression options. A key feature is the Variable Attenuation Control (VAC), enabling output reduction from full power down to approximately 5 watts, making it suitable for both stage and home use while retaining full tonal integrity.

Speaker duties are handled by a Celestion Alnico Blue housed in a finger-jointed pine cabinet finished in aged lacquered tweed, delivering the classic chime, warmth, and compression associated with the finest vintage designs. The system is further expanded with a matching Lazy J extension cabinet fitted with a Celestion Blue speaker, providing increased projection and depth. Also included is a Lazy J reverb module (uninstalled), featuring a tube-driven circuit with a full-size tank and dedicated rear-mounted controls for reverb level and tone.

This package is effectively unused in practice, with the extension cabinet remaining brand new and the amplifiers presenting in near-new condition despite having toured internationally.
