Kamaka
SOLD - Kamaka Pineapple Style #3 Ukulele - c.1928
Pickup currently unavailable
SOLD
Kamaka began in 1916 & has incredibly stayed in business to this day. A Kamaka-made uke was/is considered a "professional" ukulele on the Islands.
The "pineapple" shape came into being c.1928. Somewhat whimsical at first, but the larger sound chamber made for a noticeably louder & "fatter" sounding ukulele, & they remain in the Kamaka catalogue as their most popular & most copied-ukulele.
This early example has some beautifully figured Koa wood, headstock & inner paper labels in great condition- these often deteriorate over time- & a very low pencilled-in 3-digit number inside. All others we've seen of around this vintage have a 4-digit number.
It plays beautifully with a low action & sounds terrific.
2 solid repaired top cracks, otherwise great condition w/ original case.
