José Ramírez 2A Concepcion Jeronima #2 - Spain 1963
Pickup currently unavailable
Here is a Ramirez 2A Long Scale classical guitar built by Miguel Malo Martinez, a master luthier who spent over three decades as one of the leading craftsmen in the Jose Ramirez workshop before establishing his own Madrid-based workshop in 1993. This instrument reflects the rich tradition and refined construction methods synonymous with the Ramirez legacy.
This example features a red cedar top, as pioneered by Jose Ramirez III, paired with cypress back and sides, delivering a warm, responsive tone with excellent clarity, fast attack, and strong projection. The lightweight construction and traditional slipper foot neck joint enhance resonance and create an open, lively voice with impressive dynamic range.
This example features a Cedro (Spanish cedar) neck, an ebony fingerboard, and a dark mahogany bridge, along with original handmade rosewood friction tuners. These traditional tuners are lightweight and stable once set, contributing to the guitar’s remarkably low overall weight of just 1.28 kg, enhancing both comfort and resonance.
Playability is excellent, with a traditional classical neck profile and a 51mm nut width offering an authentic feel suited to classical and flamenco styles. The guitar is highly responsive to touch, producing a nuanced tonal palette with strong articulation and expressive character.
Condition is very good, with no structural issues, cracks, or repairs. There are only minor cosmetic signs of use including faint fingermarks on the clear pickguard, a small dent below the high E string near the bridge, and a minor blemish on the lower bout.
