James Trussart Holey Nickel Steelcaster – USA 2006

PRICE DROP -

James Trussart is one of the few modern builders who has broken the mould of traditional guitar making. Working with steel as the primary material, he produces guitars that are as unique in appearance as they are in tone.

And the tone is so distinctive that Trussart guitars have become 'must-have' instruments in the arsenals of influential artists such as Joe Walsh, Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, Jack White, Paul Simon, Charlie Sexton, Daniel Lanois, Marc Ribot, Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow), Rich Robinson (Black Crowes), Sonny Landreth, Joe Perry, Tom Morello, Billy Corgan, The Roots and many more.

From Trussart -

“The Steelcaster has the look and feel of a vintage instrument with while also featuring our exclusive hollow steel body and custom metal appointments. The steel, while also being the perfect medium to display the beautiful Trussart custom finishes, also has tonal advantages.

The Trussart Steelcaster tone is a uniquely enunciated sound that, combined with the resonant qualities of the hollow steel body can range from sweet, crystal clear tones to aggressive screaming lead tones. The construction of these instruments is only half of the story, the other half is the finish, every instrument comes with a history and a slight element of neglect, of decay, so it has a personality of its own.”

This Trussart Steelcaster is a certainly a unique spin on one of the all-time enduring classic Fender designs. This is the third Trussart we have listed here at PREMIER GUITARS, and we are mightily impressed. There is no doubt it has the same footprint as the Fender classic, but it has a feel and vibe entirely of its own.

Trussart’s standard Steelcaster features a solid metal front and back, but here we see the holey option: both back and front are made of a sheet-metal mesh. Originally this mesh was merely a visual twist, until Trussart realised it reduced feedback when compared to his standard sheet metal designs.

We believe the pickups are hand-wound Arcane pickups crafted in USA by Rob Timmons. The company offers vintage-style replica pickups and specialises in distressed and antiqued looks. His pickups are standard in James Trussart's steel-bodied guitars.

These very nice pickups coupled with the hollow steel body is a fine combination of hardware that produces something a bit special - a tone that is thick and bright, but different from your standard Tele.

It may have a metal body but the weight comes in just fine at 7.85 lbs. The neck is maple with a tobacco red stain and light thin clear finish.

With a typical vintage-like width and slender but not thin depth (19.8mm at the first and 21.4mm at the 12th) the neck feels immediately comfortable.

The guitar is in excellent condition. It has been owned and loved, and well looked after by its current owner. There is no evidence of player wear, no fret wear and everything works as it should.

Any Tele player will feel comfortable with this one, but it presents almost as a piece of art, that happens to make a very musical noise.

Comes with its original Certificate Of Authenticity signed by Mr Trussart. All housed inside its G&G hard shell case in new condition.
