Ibanez Concord 684/12 12-String - Japan 1974
Pickup currently unavailable
The Ibanez Concord 684/12 is a beautifully built 12-string dreadnought from the golden age of Japanese acoustic production. Made in Japan in 1974, this model was Ibanez’s take on the Gibson Hummingbird - offering vintage style, quality tonewoods, and lush 12-string shimmer at a player-friendly price.
This guitar features a spruce top with mahogany back and sides, delivering a warm, articulate sound with classic 12-string chime - perfect for wide-open strumming, lush rhythm beds, or Byrds-style jangle. Despite the extra string tension, it plays smoothly and easily thanks to a low action of just 0.25mm at the 1st fret and 2.0mm at the 12th fret.
The mahogany neck has a slim and inviting profile, measuring 20.11mm at the 1st fret, and paired with a rosewood fingerboard, it offers a comfortable playing experience. The nut width is a generous 48.43mm, with 57.23mm at the 12th fret, giving ample room for fingerstyle or chord voicings across all 12 strings. The overall weight is just 2.27kg (5.0lb), making it remarkably lightweight for a large-bodied 12-string.
Visually, it features a square-shouldered dreadnought body, ornate hummingbird-style pickguard, split parallelogram inlays, and vintage-style binding. It's in very clean condition for a guitar of this age, with only one small abrasion on the top (as shown in photos).
A charming vintage piece that captures the vibe of the era - great tone, gorgeous looks, and collector appeal without the boutique price tag. Includes its original hard case.
