This is a fabulous remake of the classic vintage ‘cowboy style’ Gretsch Roundup of the 1950s. These 6121W Reissues were made in Japan prior to Fender taking ownership of the Gretsch brand. And the workmanship & attention to detail is clearly apparent on this one.
The only change made is that the original Japanese made pickups have been replaced with a pair of fabulous sounding TV Jones T-Armond Dynasonic style pickups, which are a remake of the famous DeArmond single coil units found on very early Gretsch guitars.
These TV Jones pickups are a sonic delight. They are thick and punchy with a bright edge and plenty of whallop sometimes not found in single coil designs. They can be clean and jangly in that wonderful Gretsch way, or burn with best when you turn ‘em up. They sit comfortably in P-90 style territory but have a sonic character all of their own.
The two original pickups are in the case and included in the sale.
Excellent condition for its age, with barely anything in the way of marks or blemishes. Original frets have lots of life left in them, tuners are strong and accurate, neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Weight is 7.87 lbs
This Roundup looks just fabulous and sounds fantastic. It plays beautifully with a clean, low action, and is a very versatile guitar – suitable for jazz, blues, country, rockabilly and just about anything that needs “that fabulous Gretsch sound”.
Comes in its original fitted hard shell case with plush lining, in excellent condition.
