The Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue has long been regarded as the benchmark for Historic Collection instruments. Revered by players and collectors alike, the R9 faithfully recreates one of the most sought-after electric guitars ever produced, combining period-correct construction with the craftsmanship that has made Gibson's Custom Shop the standard for vintage-inspired instruments.

Built in Nashville in 2018, this example carries serial number 982187 and is finished in a beautifully figured Bourbon Burst. It features an non-chambered lightweight one-piece mahogany body topped with carved figured maple and weighs just 3.7kg, making it an exceptionally rare, resonant and comfortable Les Paul. The combination of low weight and premium tonewoods gives the guitar an incredibly lively acoustic response before it's even plugged in.

The comfortable medium C-shaped neck is carved to authentic late-'50s specifications and joins the body with a long neck tenon using traditional hot hide glue construction. A pair of Gibson Custombucker pickups, wound with Alnico III magnets, deliver the open, articulate response and dynamic character associated with the finest original PAF humbuckers. From warm, expressive clean tones to rich, harmonically complex overdrive, the R9 responds effortlessly to every nuance of a player's touch.

Included with the guitar is a spare matched set of highly regarded Wizz PAF-style humbuckers, giving the next owner the option of exploring another of the most respected vintage-inspired pickup designs available while retaining the original Custombuckers.
