Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite - USA 1995

Tobacco Burst is a finish that suits a Les Paul, deep brown at the rim and warming to amber across the maple top. On this 1995 Studio Lite it sits over a mahogany back and neck that have kept their natural brown. There’s no pickguard and no body binding, so the guitar looks pared back and purposeful. The gold hardware, the gold tuners and the trapezoid inlays on the dark fingerboard add just enough dress-up.

Gibson built the Studio Lite from 1990 to 1998 as the lightweight take on the Les Paul. The weight-relieved body sits easier on a strap through a long gig, but light doesn’t mean thin. The set neck, the maple top and a pair of humbuckers still give a big, sustaining voice, round and warm when played clean and thick and singing once the gain goes up. That makes it equally happy with blues, classic rock and heavier work. This one is serial number 91325518, and it comes in its original black Gibson hardshell with a white plush interior.
