SOLD - Gibson Les Paul Standard 1958 Reissue LPR-8 - USA 2007

Here is a 2007 Gibson Custom Shop LPR-8 Les Paul Standard Reissue, finished in Cherry Burst and representing a faithful recreation of the earliest sunburst-era Les Pauls. The LPR-8 draws inspiration from the 1958 models, known for their substantial neck profiles, understated tops, and warm, punchy tonal character that helped define the sound of blues and rock.

This example comes from a highly regarded period of Gibson Custom Shop production, recognised for consistent build quality, excellent tonewoods, and strong attention to vintage detail. The carved maple top shows subtle figuring beneath the Cherry Burst finish, staying true to the more restrained aesthetic of original ’58 models rather than the highly flamed tops associated with later ’59 reissues.

The neck profile is full and substantial without feeling excessive, offering a comfortable and confident playing experience that suits both rhythm and lead work. In the hands, it feels balanced, resonant, and highly responsive, with the kind of natural sustain players expect from a well-built Les Paul.

Equipped with Burstbucker pickups, the guitar delivers classic Les Paul tone with articulate highs, a rich and vocal midrange, and a solid, resonant low end. It responds well to dynamic playing, cleaning up smoothly with volume adjustments while maintaining clarity and definition under gain.

Condition is excellent overall, with only light signs of play. The nickel hardware has begun to gently tarnish, adding a layer of natural ageing that complements the vintage-inspired look.
