The Gibson LPR-8 is a faithful Custom Shop reissue of the legendary 1958 Les Paul Standard—an icon that marked the beginning of the "Burst" era. While the '58s lacked the highly figured tops of later '59 models, they remain revered for their chunky neck profiles, solid build, and powerful tonal character. This 2003 example in Lemonburst comes from the early years of the Historic series, when Gibson’s Custom Shop was deepening its commitment to vintage-correct details and premium craftsmanship.

This guitar features a solid, non-weight relieved mahogany body with a carved maple top, paired with a one-piece mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard. The rounded ’50s neck profile offers a comfortable yet substantial feel, while the twin Burstbucker humbuckers deliver a rich and articulate tone—bold in the low end, vocal in the mids, and smooth on the top.
