Gibson CJ-165 - USA 2006

The Gibson CJ-165 occupies a unique place in Gibson’s acoustic lineup, sitting between the smaller body CJ models and the larger slope shoulder jumbos. Designed to offer a big, balanced voice without the bulk of a full jumbo, the CJ-165 delivers warmth, projection, and clarity in a more manageable and comfortable format.

Built in 2006 at Gibson’s Bozeman, Montana acoustic factory, this model reflects the period where Gibson acoustics were especially well regarded for their consistency, craftsmanship, and tone. Finished in Natural, this example presents with minimal wear and comes supplied with its original hard shell case, ready for use on stage, in the studio, or at home.

The CJ-165 feels open and responsive under the fingers, with a strong low end, clear mids, and a smooth top that allows chords and melodies to sit naturally without harshness. It is particularly well suited to singer songwriter work, rhythm playing, and expressive fingerstyle where balance and presence matter.
