Here's a classic example of a great 'lawsuit' era bass - a fabulous copy of a Fender Precision Bass made by high-end Japanese guitar manufacturer Fernandes in the late 70s we think.
This Fernandes P-Bass copy is from the 'Stone Logo' era, which ran from 1978 to 1981. It is in truly superb condition, with only minor markings to the body and no fading.
This Fernandes P-Bass is everything you want from a vintage 4-string, with a great neck, punchy pickup and resonant body. If you've played vintage Fender Precision, you'll feel right at home here.
This Fernandes captures the look and feel of everyone’s favourite workhorse perfectly.
- Japanese Ash (sen) body
- 20-fret maple neck with maple fingerboard, smooth and snappy with, this is a superb neck that is a total joy to play
- 1x Vintage split-coil Precision style pickup
- 1x master volume and tone control
- Gorgeous sunburst finish with black pickguard
- 34” scale
This one is in excellent condition, especially for a lovely lady now aged in her early 40s. She has definitely lived most of her life safe in her brown tolex hard shell case, which is also the original Fernandes item. Seeing these instruments in their original cases is extremely rare, and this is the only one we've seen to date.
This bass plays and sounds as good as it looks, which is what you'd expect from a MIJ instrument at the height of the 'lawsuit' era. Powerful and articulate, just like a good P Bass should be.
The neck is straight, truss rod works fine, very little fret wear, tuners are strong and everything works as it should.
Weight is 8.9 lbs
This Fernandes has it all. If you're looking for a vintage P Bass for a fraction of the price of a Fender, then look no further.
Comes in its original hard case in superb condition, with the exterior badge intact.
