Fender Custom Shop Custom Classic Telecaster - USA 2006

A Custom Shop Telecaster is the one you buy when you want the original design built properly. It keeps everything that made the Tele a classic, with a slab body, a bolt-on maple neck and a bridge you can hear in every note. Then it adds the care, the feel and the finish that come from a Custom Shop build. This Custom Classic is from 2006, serial number CZ51005, and it’s in excellent condition. It comes with its original Custom Shop hardshell case and the case candy that shipped with it, including the strap, cable, tags and paperwork.

The finish is a classic sunburst, dark at the edges and warm amber through the middle, set off by a cream pickguard. The maple neck carries a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, and the headstock has the Fender logo with the Custom Shop signature decal on the back. The chrome three-saddle bridge and control plate keep the look traditional and uncluttered.

The sound is everything a Telecaster should be. The bridge pickup is bright and snappy, with the bite that cuts through a mix and the twang that country, rockabilly and blues players love. The neck pickup is warmer and rounder, and it’s good for smoother leads and mellow rhythm work. Push the amp harder and it growls with a lot of character. It’s a simple guitar that’s easy to play and does a lot, and the Custom Shop build means it feels as good as it sounds.

Some guitars are built to a price, and some are built to be played for decades. A Custom Shop Tele is the second kind.
