1956 was a pivotal year for the Strat. Alder bodies replaced ash on sunburst, and custom colours began to appear. The ‘U - shaped’ neck profile was replaced with a ‘Soft V’ and the round string tree was replaced with the ‘butterfly’ style string tree. Refinements in 1956 manifested many of the finishing touches we identify as the archetype Stratocaster design.

This 2012 Fender AVRI '56 Stratocaster has been a ‘player’ for the past ten years and has some natural aging and finish checking on the nitro body. As a workhorse this Strat has also had some player friendly upgrades such as some clear and bell-like Kinman noiseless pickups, period correct anodized aluminum pick guard and, most notably, a beautiful Musikraft roasted maple birdseye neck.

While modified, this guitar maintains its visual and functional period accuracy. 21 stainless steel frets adorn the fretboard, with period correct black dots, skunk stripe and vintage truss rod. Fingerboard radius is a comfortable 12” which lends itself to string bends and lead work. The neck profile is a medium V and quite similar feel to some of the original 1957 Strats we have had here in store at Premier Guitars.
