Everyone loves a good birthday party, including Fender, who has been keen to celebrate the continuing appeal of its most famous son since the company’s Anniversary Series first appeared in shops in 1979.
In time to celebrate the iconic Stratocaster’s 40th birthday, this particular one was built in early 1994. Available only during 1993 and 1994, the 40th had an enamel badge on the headstock (see pics) emblazoned with the words ‘40th Anniversary of the Stratocaster’, and a special neckplate inscribed “Fender Stratocaster 40 years … and still rocking”. Only 1954 were built.
* A rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets
* A modern three-ply pickguard with 11 screws, five-way selector switch and three American Standard Pickups
* The controls on the 90s Standard Strat feature Fender’s TBX system, which offers master volume, plus tone for the neck pickup and tone for the middle and bridge respectively.
* By the 1990s the Strat’s bridge and trem assembly had travelled quite far from its original 50s appointments - gone were the bent steel bridge saddles and six-screw configuration in favour of what we see here - redesigned saddles and two-point tremolo.
This 40th Anniversary Strat is in fabulous, almost new condition. It has hardly been played, and very well cared for. Apart from some very faint light button swirl on the back there are no marks, dings, dents, scratches anywhere that we can see. Certainly no buckle rash, and frets are 99%.
The finish on this one is the relatively rare and quite beautiful Caribbean Mist, and it is in excellent order. The guitar has been set up nicely and plays well in all positions. The neck is a very comfortable medium C profile. The only change from original is a pair of straplock pins, which could easily be replaced.
Weight is 8.2 lbs
This is a classic workhorse guitar with some nice “Anniversary” appointments in fine playing condition, with another 40 years to go.
Comes in a Gator hard case in excellent condition.
