Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster - USA 2013
Pickup currently unavailable
Eric Clapton’s relationship with the Stratocaster began in the late 1960s when he started picking up mid 1950s Strats from shops in the United States. His 1956 maple neck Strat, later nicknamed Brownie, became central to the Layla recordings, and soon after he assembled Blackie, a parts caster built from several 1950s Strats, selecting the best components from each. Those early instruments shaped his long standing preferences for maple necks, a comfortable soft V carve, and a Strat that could move from clear, glassy tones to thicker driven sounds without losing definition.
Clapton first released his Fender Signature Stratocaster in 1988, formalising many of those preferences into a production model. It features a soft V maple neck, Fender Noiseless pickups, and the active mid boost with TBX tone control, allowing it to cover traditional Strat clarity as well as a fuller, more compressed voice when required. The tremolo is typically blocked for added tuning stability, keeping the feel solid and focused while preserving the expressive control Clapton is known for.
This 2013 example in Olympic White shows hardly any wear and presents extremely clean overall. It comes supplied with its original tweed hard shell case manufactured by G&G Cases, and an additional pickguard is included in the sale, making it a well kept and complete example of one of Fender’s most enduring signature models.
