Epiphone '62 Wilshire Reissue Custom Historic - USA 2009

The Epiphone Wilshire arrived in 1959 as a double-cutaway solid body that never looked quite like anyone else’s, and it has been a cult favourite ever since. The 1962 Wilshire Reissue Custom Historic brings that sharp, slightly rebellious design back with period-correct detail. This one was built by Gibson Custom in Nashville, which puts it well above a standard production Epiphone for build quality and finish.

It looks the part. The white finish is clean and bright against a big black pickguard, with a rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays and a black headstock carrying the Epiphone logo. The chrome hardware and cream tuner buttons give it a sharp, vintage look. It’s from 2009, with serial number 901342 stamped on the back of the headstock.

The sound is where a P-90 Wilshire earns its keep. A P-90 has more bite and grit than a humbucker and more body than a typical single coil. That means a punchy, rich tone with plenty of growl when you push it, and a warm, articulate clean sound when you back off. It suits blues, garage rock, indie, classic rock and anything that wants some attitude. It’s a guitar that makes you want to play louder.

It’s in excellent condition and presents very well. It comes in its original hardshell case, which has a blue plush interior and holds the COA and additional case candy.

A white Wilshire with a black guard stands apart from the usual double cutaways, and this reissue is a hard one to find.
