    ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

The National brand has a rich history in the world of resonator guitars. They were one of the pioneering companies in developing and popularising this type of instrument. The company was founded in the 1920s by George Beauchamp and John Dopyera, and they played a significant role in the evolution of guitar design.

The Triolian was the first single-cone guitar offered by National, and initial examples were wooden bodies, which quickly changed to steel.

This 1930 Triolian's body is steel, with a steel cover plate with drilled sound holes, 'ribs', and a steel hand rest covering the cone biscuit.  The body has two 'f' cutouts, originally sprayed in a tobacco-brown-sunburst finish that National called Walnut which in parts, has naturally faded and flaked off. Walnut models always had a W in the serial number, as this one does. The tailpiece is nickle-plated steel. The neck is nicely figured tiger-stripe maple, carved in a 'V' profile, and finished off in the same colours as the body albeit it faded and worn.  The head stock is slotted, and the neck joins the body at the 12th fret.  The fingerboard is ebonised maple and bound in white celluloid. The head stock decal states the model name:  National Triolian.

There have been some modifications on this resonator including the three fastening screws in the fingerboard at the 17th and 20 frets, a National pickup has been installed at some stage and a strap button has been attached to the neck heel.

This 1930 National Triolian resonator offers a unique, bright, and cutting tone like no other, many have tried, but there is no substitute for the original! Its historical significance and collectible value, coupled with meticulous craftsmanship and beautifully aged, ornate design, make it a visually striking and valuable addition to any collection. Its versatility across musical genres and potential for inspiration further enhance its appeal, making it a compelling choice for musicians and collectors alike. Get in touch about this one now!
