Vintage Gibson SJ-200 - USA 1984

Here is a Gibson SJ-200 in natural finish, an iconic super jumbo acoustic that represents one of Gibson’s most recognisable and powerful flat-top designs. Originally conceived as a “super” evolution of the J-200, the SJ-200 was designed to deliver greater projection, presence, and visual impact, and it quickly became a favourite among country and western players before expanding across multiple genres.

This example features the hallmark SJ-200 aesthetic appointments including the moustache bridge, ornate floral pickguard artwork, and mother-of-pearl crown inlays across the fretboard. The tonewoods have aged beautifully, developing a warm golden patina that enhances its vintage character. The body is clean overall with only light cosmetic marks consistent with careful use, and the neck sits comfortably in the hand with a smooth medium C profile. The guitar has had a professional refret, leaving it with excellent playability and very minimal fret wear.

Condition is very good for its age, with a professionally repaired top crack on the bass side between the bridge and soundhole that is now stable and barely visible. It has also been well maintained structurally, and the setup supports easy playability across the neck.

Tonally, this SJ-200 delivers the classic Gibson jumbo voice, big, warm and balanced, with a strong low end, rich midrange and clear, singing top end.
