The Vícente Sanchís guitar factory was originally founded in 1915 in Valencia by Ricardo Sanchís Nacher (1881-1960), a talented luthier with close ties with the shops of Manuel Ramírez and Domingo Esteso. When this guitar was made in 1979 the company was run by the Vícente Sanchis, son of the founder, and employed some 22 workers. Despite its size, methods of construction remained doggedly traditional, and the work was done by hand.
In the 70s & 80s there were around 30 models in their line of Spanish guitars including classicals, flamencos, requintos and salon-size instruments. The guitars ranged from production models with laminated backs to signed master luthier models made of solid, exotic woods.
The Model 34 was in the higher spec echelons of Sanchis guitars, and it remains in excellent condition.

Handmade in Massanassa, near Valencia, Spain, this classical guitar was crafted with extreme care and features a solid cedar top, rosewood back and sides, and a thick slab ebony fretboard on a solid mahogany neck.
The rosewood bridge sits flush with the top with no sign of belly bulge, and the saddle has ample height for adjustment if required. The cedar top is bound with mahogany and maple purfling, and the soundhole rosette is ornately inlaid as well. Visible through the soundhole is the original label showing the make and model.
The one-piece mahogany neck has a full D shape with notable shoulder, measuring .882” at the first fret and 1.005" at the 9th. The slab ebony fretboard features the original pristine slender fretwire with 12 frets clear of the body. The scale measures a full 25.6“ (65 cm), the bone nut measures a full 2” in width, and string spacing at the bridge is 2 3/8". A rosewood veneer is overlaid onto the headstock which is fitted with the stock set of ornate strip tuners with white buttons.
The sound is rich and smooth, with sweet bloom to the notes and a warm, broad character that projects well. The slab ebony fretboard adds a certain clarity and treble articulation to the tonal profile, and notes develop quickly with appreciable headroom and a certain subtle punchiness indicative of cedar.
Cosmetically, wear is limited to a few expected faint scratches in the clear coat on the guitar as a whole, and the neck profile is pristine with a smooth gloss finish.
Featherweight at 3.12 lbs, this Vincente Sanchez Model 34 has been well looked after by its one owner since new. It presents in excellent condition for a 40+ year old guitar.
Comes in its fitted hardshell case in good condition.
