This is a beautiful 1932 National Tricone Style 1.5 - Squareneck Resonator guitar. Style 1.5 is an upgraded version of the Style 1.

An assessment of this guitar was undertaken by the acknowledged leader in the field of vintage guitar appraisals, Gruhn Guitars in Nashville – this is what they had to say:

‘I have personally examined the guitar described below. It is, in our opinion, a National Style 1 Hawaiian squareneck with wriggle edge engraving, commonly known as Style 1½, made in the year 1932.

Description: This guitar is in exceptionally fine condition. It conforms to the typical specifications of the model for the period it was made, with nickel-plated German silver (a white brass alloy) body with wriggle edge engraving on the top, back, and sides, typical tri-cone National resonator system, hollow square neck, ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, mahogany peghead with National peghead decal logo, and original hard shell case. This is a rare model which is of interest to collectors as well as musicians.’

The 3 original cones were replaced with genuine Nationals and the guitar was set up by respected Newcastle luthier Greg Beeton. The original cones are stored in the case and included in the sale of this guitar.

This guitar has a few small dings, scratches and some minor play-wear, but nothing offensive. Bound ebony fretboard on mahogany square-neck, 19 frets are still pristine because, of course, they have not been touched !

This National is in exceptional condition at 90 years old and would be a perfect addition to a collection or to a player after a beautiful vintage instrument.

Comes with original hardshell case in good condition.
