This is a fabulous Mosrite Of California Ventures Model Mk I 1965 vintage reissue in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case.
This rare reissue replicates all the essential features of early Mosrite Ventures Model instruments, with smooth knobs, a sandcast Vibramute tailpiece, and prominent German Carve on the basswood body.
The stock pair of single coil pickups have ample power and punchy midrange, wound properly to vintage-spec and providing an authoritative sound that's quintessential Mosrite.
Few guitars have a more storied history than the Mosrite brand, especially in the modern era. We believe this particular model is a rarely seen reissue crafted by Fillmore in Japan in the 1990s. This Mosrite is one of Fillmore's earlier models with the "Mosrite of California" headstock nomenclature, also retaining the Ventures Model text. Boasting incredible fit and finish work, this Japanese made Mosrite is an extremely finely crafted instrument worthy of Semie Moseley's legacy.
The maple neck has a slim C-shaped profile carve with a bound dark rosewood fretboard, and slender frets with fret edge binding and showing almost no wear.
A faithful reissue in every respect, this Mosrite features a 24 3/4" scale length and 1 9/16" fretboard width at the zero fret just forward of the aluminum nut. The headstock retains the "Mosrite of California" text and Ventures Model logo, with vintage Kluson-style tuners.
All of the stock electronics work as they should, with the original single coil pickups metering at 6.5k ohms in both positions. The look is rounded out with a pale mint green three-ply pickguard, Mosrite-embossed pickup covers, and chrome-plated metal Mosrite knobs machined with smooth tops (the design that predated the more common "M" knobs).
The neck is flawless and features a quite stunning sunburst cameo on the rear.
The “Vibramute” vibrato is extremely smooth and elegant, touch-sensitive in its responsiveness and made to exacting vintage spec with a sandcast base and chrome plated string anchor and arm. The vibrato arm even has the subtle "elbow" seen on early Ventures Models, a testament to all the tiny details faithfully captured by Fillmore on this model.
The gloss black finish highlights the prominent German carve, and cosmetic wear is limited to a couple of tiny nicks and light scratches, but nothing of significance.
Weight is 8.4 lbs
