Marshall Offset Limited Edition JTM45 Head (259/300) + 412 Cabinet (266/300) - UK 2002
Pickup currently unavailable
Here is a Marshall JTM45 “Offset” limited edition half stack, a highly collectible tribute to one of the rarest and most historically significant Marshall amplifier designs ever produced. Originally created in 1962 in extremely limited numbers, the Offset JTM45 has since become a sought-after reference point for early Marshall tone and design. This 2000 reissue run was strictly limited to 300 units for the US market and sold out before production was completed, making surviving matched head-and-cab sets exceptionally rare.
This particular set is even more desirable, with the head numbered #259 of 300 and the matching cabinet numbered #266 of 300, and is currently owned by a prominent Australian guitarist.
The design features the distinctive offset chassis cabinet, originally engineered to improve weight distribution and stability. The accompanying 4x12 cabinet features a semi-open back design and houses Celestion Alnico speakers, contributing to its articulate, vintage-voiced response and wide tonal spread.
Sonically, the JTM45 Offset delivers a warm, harmonically rich tone heavily influenced by early Fender Tweed circuits, which were a major inspiration for Marshall’s original designs. It produces expansive clean tones with excellent depth, and transitions into smooth, punchy overdrive when pushed, with a natural compression and musical breakup characteristic of early British valve amplification.
Built with authentic hand-wired tagboard circuitry, an aluminium chassis, and KT66 power tubes, this reissue stays faithful to the original 1962 specification. It also features period-correct styling, including black vinyl covering, white/grey grille cloth, and the rare rectangular red “coffin” Marshall logo, referencing the original handcrafted emblems.
