This is a vintage 1961 Fender Concert Amp in exceptional  condition and in perfect working order. The Concert is the successor to the venerable 4×10 Bassman and the predecessor of the 4×10 Super Reverb.

This amp delivers sweet, dynamic clean tones with incredible sparkle and a certain high fidelity clarity that is noticeable as soon as you strum your first chord. Turn the amp up past 5 and the amp starts to smoothly overdrive with just the right amount of bite and the complex midrange bark that makes Fender’s Brownface amps the perfect middle ground between the growl and attitude of Fender’s Tweed amps and the glassy shimmer of the Blackface era.

The EQ controls have an incredible wide sweep, and this amp is uncommonly warm for a Fender, never feeling too bright or brittle, with the perfect amount of midrange and focused low end.

The second channel boasts the Harmonic Vibrato circuit, which was the only Fender “Tremolo” circuit to ever have a true pitch shifting effect, with deep pulsating warbles and a wide range of speeds.

Lots of Fender folks have seen the external red switch on the back of Fender Blackface amps. This switch means it is an export model (110v to 240v) but maybe few people are aware that before that, some brownface amps were equipped with an internal wiring strip which could be altered to choose the voltage. This is one of those amps, so it is running at 240v – no stepdown transformer required in Oz.

One pot and some resistors and have been changed but apart from that the internal circuitry appears very clean and original.

This one is carrying a set of four later era Fender branded 10” speakers that sound great – bright & punchy with a midrange kick that only 4x10s can deliver.

The tube chart is fully intact inside the cabinet with date stamp KH = August 1961. Circuit stamp is 6G12A.

The original rough brown tolex and oxblood grill cloth are intact and in remarkable shape. There is a chunk out of the bottom rear, but apart from that the tolex and grill show sparingly little wear.

The original chassis straps, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and flat “Fender” logo are all present and in great shape. The dogbone handle is there too with plenty of years to go.

Great Fender sound with warm cleans and clear, saturated drive tones. The 4×10’s have a quick response and produce a full & focused sound. The vibrato on this amp sounds fantastic and is partly what makes these old brownface amps so special.

This amp is a great candidate for any collection or studio.
