Here is a bass ukulele from the aNueNue Ukulele Company, a Taiwanese builder founded in 2008 by Johnson Liao. The brand was established around a philosophy that views the ukulele as a “happy musical instrument,” intended to spread love, peace, and musical expression. This vision has guided aNueNue’s development from its inception and continues to inform its modern design approach.

Drawing on a strong musical and manufacturing background, Liao worked with carefully selected craftsmen across Taiwan and China, sourcing tonewoods from around the world and refining construction techniques over time. This led to the development of aNueNue’s distinctive bracing and build systems, which have helped the company establish a reputation for producing refined, modern ukuleles with excellent tonal clarity and consistency.

This bass ukulele features a solid koa body, delivering a tight, punchy low-end response with a clear and focused tonal character. It is an electro-acoustic instrument, designed for both live performance and studio use, offering flexibility across a range of playing environments. The onboard system includes a custom active pickup with volume, treble, and bass controls, allowing precise tone shaping, along with a built-in tuner powered by dual 3V coin batteries for added practicality.

Design features include a sculpted rosewood rosette with an integrated 3D finger rest, improving comfort during extended playing, along with rosewood binding that enhances both durability and visual refinement. The overall ergonomics are well considered, balancing aesthetic detail with functional playability.

This example was purchased new in 2018 and has seen only sporadic use since. It presents in excellent condition with no visible marks and remains exceptionally well cared for. It plays smoothly, sounds excellent, and functions exactly as intended, offering a reliable and versatile bass ukulele suitable for stage or studio applications.
