    ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

Here is a Maton FG100, a vintage Australian dreadnought from the late 1960s/early 1970s era, originally designed to capture the growing folk sound of the time and now regarded as one of Maton’s most characterful early models. With over five decades of natural ageing, this example delivers a rich, open voice with excellent projection and clarity.

This example features a solid Sitka spruce top paired with red maple back and sides, producing a bright, bell-like tonal character with clear highs, warm midrange, and a balanced low end. The response is articulate and dynamic, making it well suited to folk, bluegrass, and singer-songwriter styles.

This example features a Rosewood bridge and headstock overlay, mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and Maton’s original Double-Thrust truss rod system, along with an adjustable saddle and hand-carved spruce bracing. It has also been fitted with a high-end Sunrise pickup system with preamp, highly regarded for its natural amplified tone and professional-grade output.

Playability is excellent with a comfortable neck and low-profile frets showing only light wear in the first positions. The action is well set and the guitar remains responsive and easy to play across the entire fingerboard.

Condition is very good for its age with expected cosmetic wear including buckle rash, light surface swirling, and a few small knocks and dings consistent with a well-used vintage instrument. There is a small crack near the bridge pins that appears stable and easily repairable if desired, with no signs of movement. Replacement Schaller tuners have been fitted and function well.
