Vintage Fender Concert 4 x 10 Amplifier - USA 1963
Pickup currently unavailable
The Fender Concert occupies a unique place in Fender's amplifier history. Introduced in 1960 alongside the final years of the tweed Bassman, it became Fender's flagship 4 x 10" combo and remained in production through the brownface era until the transition to blackface cosmetics in late 1963. Unlike many Fender models, the Concert had no direct tweed predecessor, making it a distinctly early 1960s design that combined substantial power, larger transformers, and Fender's evolving amplifier circuitry into a format that has become increasingly sought after today.
This 1963 example features the desirable 6G12-A circuit, the final brownface version before the move to the blackface AB763 design. Producing around 40 watts through four speakers, the Concert delivers considerably more punch and headroom than many Fender amplifiers of the period, thanks in part to the large output transformers shared with models such as the Twin and Vibrasonic. The result is an amplifier with excellent projection, strong low end response, and a rich harmonic character that sits somewhere between the earlier tweed circuits and the cleaner blackface designs that followed.
One of the defining features of the 6G12-A is its harmonic tremolo circuit. Found only on a handful of brownface Fender amplifiers, this effect splits the signal into different frequency ranges and modulates them against one another, creating a swirling, dimensional sound that many players consider one of Fender's greatest amplifier effects.
With its dual-channel layout, four inputs, powerful 4 x 10" speaker configuration, and legendary harmonic tremolo, the Concert remains an exceptionally versatile amplifier. Whether used for clean rhythm work, edge-of-breakup tones, or driven harder into natural power tube saturation, the 6G12-A remains one of the standout circuits from Fender's golden years in Fullerton.
We also currently have a matching brownface Fender 6G15 Reverb Unit available in store. For anyone looking to recreate the complete early 1960s Fender setup, we would be happy to discuss a package deal on both pieces.
