Ernest K. Kaai, often referred to as the "father of Hawaiian Music" advertised as the
'maker of the best ukuleles in the world" as early as 1909. Funnily enough, at that early date, he would've been among the ONLY makers of ukuleles!!
There were only a very small handful of builders on the Islands at the time, building most likely to order, prior to the worldwide "Hawaiian Music Craze" of 1915 onward.
This lovely Style 2 likely falls within the 1914-1918 timeframe (Kaai Ukulele Manufacturing Co. appears to have ceased operations around 1920) & is in excellent condition, with some attractive dark 'knots' in the koa fingerboard.
All original with period case (likely from an old Banjolin)
