    Limited Edition 91/500

The Fender Custom Shop was co-founded in 1987 by John Page and Michael Stevens. Though its primary purpose was to produce one-off custom instruments for artists and the public, in 1988 the Custom Shop released its first limited edition Stratocaster, the Homer Haynes Limited Edition (a run of 500).

The instrument is based on a 1957 Strat and featured a gold anodized pickguard (a plain white guard was also included in the case), gold hardware, and a Custom Shop logo and serial number (1-500) on the back of the headstock.

Homer Haynes was the guitar-playing half of the musical comedy team Homer & Jethro.

This very early Custom Shop Limited Edition guitar is #91 of only 500 guitars produced and was based on Homer’s original ’50s Strat.

This guitar has certainly been loved and played and shows the cosmetic wear that comes with constant use. But as we have consistently found; a guitar that has been played a lot, in most cases indicates that it’s a great guitar, with this one being no exception.

There has been significant player wear to the top bout, so much so that has exposed the copper component in the deep glow of the gold finish, with some areas of the exposed solid alder on show – which we think looks great! Some areas on the sides have been affected in this way, showing natural wear of the guitar.

The body shows a number of light dings and some light to medium finish checking. Some minor scratches on the back but nothing too offensive. The guitar has minimal fret wear and plays exceptionally well. The trem plate cover on the back of the guitar has some small cracks and a very small piece missing at one of the bottom two screws. All of the wear is purely cosmetic and in no way effects the exceptional playing quality of this wonderful guitar.

This guitar sounds great delivering a classic Stratocaster tone and is an incredible collector’s instrument. Definitely one not to miss.

Comes in non-original hardshell case in good condition.
