    ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

The National brand has a rich history in the world of resonator guitars. They were one of the pioneering companies in developing and popularising this type of instrument. The company was founded in the 1920s by George Beauchamp and John Dopyera, and they played a significant role in the evolution of guitar design.

The Style O was introduced in the mid-1930s and quickly gained popularity. It features a single resonator cone and a metal body, which gives it a distinctive, metallic tone. The body is made of steel, giving it a durable and rugged appearance.

The neck of the Style O is made of mahogany, and early models had a 12-fret design. This means the neck joins the body at the twelfth fret, which was a common configuration for guitars of that era. In 1934 the Style O was introduced with the more desirable 14-fret setup, giving the player more room up the fretboard. The neck profile is a distinct 'V', in line with resonator guitars of this period.

One of the most iconic features of the National Style O is its "palm tree" or "chicken foot" cover plate design. This ornate cover plate not only adds to the visual appeal but also contributes to the guitar's unique tone.

The resonator cone itself is a crucial component. It's made of spun aluminium and is responsible for producing the distinctive, bright tones that resonator guitars are known for. This Style O still has the original cone in place.

Made famous from the intro to the classic hit 'Romeo & Juliet' by Dire Straits - Mark Knopfler plays his 1937 National Style O, which is very similar to this one in many ways.

This guitar has been very well looked after since being bought in Indiana, USA in 2008 by its current owner. It has been setup and serviced by industry respected luthier, Alan Rigg.

This 1934 National Style O resonator offers a unique, bright, and cutting tone like no other, many have tried, but there is no substitute for the original! Its historical significance and collectible value, coupled with meticulous craftsmanship and ornate design, make it a visually striking and valuable addition to any collection. Its versatility across musical genres and potential for inspiration further enhance its appeal, making it a compelling choice for musicians and collectors alike. Get in touch about this one now!
