National Resophonic
National Resophonic Style N Resonator – USA 2001
Pickup currently unavailable
The National Style N is based on a prewar model from the late 1920s. Of course Nationals are rightly renowned for their ornate decoration. But over time the company found that some players didn’t want the sand-etched Hawaiian scenes on the top, back and sides of the most famous single cone National model – the Style O.
With the Style O you get the island, the palm trees, the canoeist, the setting sun, the volcano, the clouds and the waves. With the Style N you get nuthin’ – nuthin’ but a beautiful, plain, shiny and polished German Silver finish -- which is neither German nor actual silver but instead an alloy that includes copper, zinc and nickel plating on the top, rims and back.
Other features are a 25” scale length, a fingerboard width of 1 13/16th”, a hard rock maple neck (though you don’t have to play hard rock on it), an ebony fingerboard, a maple biscuit bridge saddle, a pewter-looking National “Trade Mark USA” crest with art deco echoes, a diminutive grained ivoroid truss rod cover held in place by three screws, a slotted headstock with old-style three-on-a-plate tuners, ivoroid dot markers and matching grained ivoroid fingerboard binding.
This Style N has been played primarily at home and has been well looked after. There are a few small marks on the top, back and sides but the neck is remarkably clean.
It has a big, spacious sound with that wonderful cut and clarity fittingly associated with National Resophonic.
Comes in its original hard shell case in very-good condition.
