Fender American Standard Stratocaster - USA 1995

Here’s a beautifully kept 1995 Fender American Standard Stratocaster finished in deep Wine Red - a striking, understated colour that stands out from the classic sunbursts and blacks of the period.

1995 was a strong year for Fender, marking the continued refinement of their American Standard and Standard-series instruments. These mid-’90s Strats are now recognised for their consistency, comfortable feel, and versatile tone - a sweet spot between vintage flavour and modern playability.

This guitar has that familiar Strat comfort the moment you pick it up. With a nut width of 41.99mm and width at the 12th fret of 52.02mm, it feels immediately inviting in the hand. The neck depth of 21.11mm at the 1st fret and 22.54mm at the 12th gives it a slim, fast feel without losing substance. The setup is excellent, with action at 0.25mm at the 1st fret and 2.0mm at the 12th fret - making it smooth and responsive across the board. At 3.54kg (7.81lb), it’s lightweight, resonant, and well-balanced.

Tonally, it delivers everything you’d expect from a good mid-’90s Strat. The neck position is rounded and warm, the middle offers clarity and punch, and the bridge has that crisp edge perfect for cutting through. The “in-between” positions have that unmistakable Strat quack, making this a versatile workhorse for blues, rock, funk, and beyond.

This example previously had a Roland GK-3 synth pickup installed. The GK-3 has been removed (included in the case), with two small mounting screws remaining in the pickguard near the bridge. Otherwise, the guitar is clean and in great shape, with some honest player wear evident. This Strat recently had a fresh refret, so the frets are at 100%. It comes housed in a non-original hard shell case.

A fine example of a mid-’90s Fender Strat - playable, great sounding, and finished in one of the era’s most attractive colours.
