Vintage Gibson J-45 - USA 1960

Here is a 1960 Gibson J-45, one of the most iconic and widely recorded acoustic guitars ever made, long associated with legendary songwriters and performers. Known for its warm, balanced voice and unmistakable character, the J-45 remains a benchmark for vintage slope-shoulder acoustics, and this example captures that heritage beautifully.

This example features the classic spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides, delivering the rich, rounded Gibson tone with strong fundamentals, warm lows, and a smooth, woody midrange. It responds effortlessly to both strumming and fingerstyle, with a mature, open voice that only comes from decades of playing.

Playability is excellent, with a low and comfortable action that makes it an easy and inspiring guitar to spend time with. There is still saddle remaining and no indication of a neck reset being required in the near future, making it a solid and reliable vintage player.

Condition is very good for its age, with a few professionally repaired back cracks and a repaired headstock crack that has been stabilised without compromising structural integrity. These repairs are well executed and do not detract from the guitar’s tone or performance.

A classic vintage Gibson with authentic character, strong playability, and the kind of sound that has defined generations of music.
