Vintage Epiphone Crestwood Custom - USA 1964
Pickup currently unavailable
The Epiphone Crestwood Custom was produced by the Epiphone company from 1958 to 1970. During this time, there were several variations of the Crestwood Custom produced, with changes made to the body shape, hardware, and electronics over the years.
The Crestwood Custom is known for its unique and distinctive tone, thanks in part to its two mini-humbucker pickups. The pickups offer a slightly brighter and clearer tone than standard humbuckers, while still providing plenty of output and sustain.
The mahogany body and neck help to produce a warm and rich tone. The Tune-o-matic bridge provides solid intonation and even with the Bigsby, the guitar stays in tune nicely.
The double-cutaway design of the Crestwood Custom allows for easy access to the higher frets, making it a popular choice among guitarists such as Johnny Winter, Marc Bolan, Elvis Costello and Keith Richards. The guitar's unique and eye-catching design, with its asymmetrical headstock and distinctive body shape, also adds to its appeal.

This Crestwood Custom is one cool bit of kit! The guitar is light, acoustically resonant and feels great in the hand - it plays beautifully. The frets have very little wear, intonation is great with no buzzing or dead spots all the way up the neck. The original mini-humbuckers sound fantastic with plenty of punch and clarity.
We believe this guitar may have been refinished at one point in its life - the headstock looks to have been sanded back somewhat and finished in a clear finish as evidenced by the remaining dark finish around the Epiphone decal. The original deluxe tuners hold tune well. The original pots have dates from 1963 and 1964 confirming the guitars vintage.
This is a great example of Epiphone's golden era - a rare and collectable guitar that looks the business, and sounds and plays wonderfully.
