Taylor 312ce-N Grand Concert Nylon Natural - USA 2023

For steel-string players who have always wanted a nylon-string guitar but never liked the wide, flat necks they come with, this is the one to look at. The 312ce-N is Taylor’s Grand Concert nylon, with a 1 7/8 inch nut, a 20 inch radius and a slim, comfortable neck that feels familiar straight away. It’s compact and light, the soft cutaway opens up the upper frets, and the neck joins the body at the 12th fret.

The sound is warm, round and clear. The Sitka spruce top gives the notes clarity and projection, and the sapele back and sides add a woody warmth and depth to the low end. The ebony fingerboard and bridge, black body binding and gemstone inlays lift it above a typical nylon guitar, and the Tusq nut and saddle keep it consistent and bright. The nylon bracing lets it speak with the sweet, singing tone you’d expect from a classical, while it’s built with the precision and finish Taylor are known for.

It’s fitted with Taylor’s ES-N under-saddle pickup, so it’s ready to plug in on stage or in the studio without losing its natural tone. It’s in excellent condition, and the serial number puts its build at 28 June 2023 from Taylor’s El Cajon factory in California. It comes with its Taylor brown hardshell case, lined in burgundy plush.

Nylon-string guitars have a way of changing how you play, slowing things down and letting every note settle.
