One the most recognisable and popular acoustic guitars in the history of the instrument, the Martin 000 series of instruments has been the guitar of choice for many a fingerstyle, folk or blues artist for the best part of a century. It is no surprise that Eric Clapton utilised the tones of the Martin 000 for his acoustic renaissance in the early 1990s.
This guitar is a reissue of Eric’s go-to 1966 Martin 000–28, modified with 000-42 style appointments, which he famously played on the Unplugged Acoustic concert of 1992. The unmistakable warm, bluesy tones can be seen and heard on songs such as Before You Accuse Me, Hey Hey and Layla.
This guitar is in excellent shape. Like new condition. The nitro lacquer has aged to give the spruce top a nice dark tint, reminiscent of original Martins of the 1960s. There are no blemishes or modifications to this instrument.
The modified V profile of the Martin necks is a favourite in the shop here at Premier Guitars. The neck of this instrument fits so snugly in the hand you may never want to let it go. Aside from playing comfort, the warm, midrange projection of this 000 is what makes them a joy for blues, jazz, folk and fingerstyle playing. The warm mid projection of this guitar is conducive to moving away from the cowboy chord zone and into creative territory up the neck. It's not hard to see why one of the most influential guitarists of all time would have this as his go-to acoustic guitar.
