Fender Master Built Jason Smith Esquire - USA 2018

The Fender Esquire - Fender's first solid-body electric guitar.

The Esquire was designed as a simple, one-pickup model with a single bridge pickup and a control for volume. The guitar was later updated with a tone control and a second pickup, becoming the Fender Telecaster.

The original Esquire featured a solid body made of ash or pine, with a single-cutaway design that allowed for easy access to the upper frets. The guitar had a bolt-on maple neck with a maple or rosewood fingerboard, and a single bridge pickup designed by Leo Fender himself.

This Fender Master Built Jason Smith Esquire is a limited edition electric guitar that was released in 2018. It was designed by Jason Smith, a master builder at Fender, and is a tribute to the classic Fender Esquire model.

The guitar features a Butterscotch Blonde finish on an ash body, which gives it a nice vintage look. The neck is made of quartersawn maple with a "U" shape, which is comfortable to play and provides excellent stability. The fingerboard is made of maple as well, with a 9.5" radius and 21 frets.

The Jason Smith Esquire is equipped with a single-coil pickup, which is controlled by a volume and tone knob. The pickup is custom-wound and designed to deliver a unique, vintage-inspired tone.

Even though this guitar has only a single pickup, it retains the three-way switch of the two-pickup guitars. This switch modifies the tone of the pickup by adding more bass in the forward position, while enabling use of the tone control knob in the middle position. With the switch in the rear position, these tone controls are bypassed entirely for a "hotter" lead tone.
